Marco Sassone was born on July 27, 1942 in the village of Campi Bisenzio, Italy.
He studied at the Istituto Galileo Galilei, and later at the Accademia in Florence, Italy.

In 1967, he immigrated to the United States isettling in California. He became a regular exhibitor in the Laguna Art Festival.
In the early 1980s he moved to San Francisco and established an art studio.
In 1997, he received a commission to create a 200 square foot mural in downtown San Francisco.
In 2005, he immigrated to Canada and established an art studio in Toronto.
In 2016, CBC National Television of Canada broadcast a feature profile of Marco Sassone.

Marco Sassone has received numerous awards for his contribution to the arts including:
1978 – Gold Medal from the Italian Academy of Arts, Literature and Science
1982 – Recipient of the Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana (official Order of Merit from the Italian Government)
1987 – Commendation from Mayor Bradley of Los Angeles recognizing Sassone’s contribution to art in California
1994 – Mayor Jordan of San Francisco proclaimed March 30, 1994 Marco Sassone Day
