Rollin Karg was born in Columbus, Ohio on August 20, 1944. He spent much of his youth in Miami, Florida.
He studied at Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas. He worked as an Industrial Engineer before becoming an artist.
His journey into the art world began as a photographer and interior decorator. Then, he learned the art of woodworking and ceramics. In 1983, a tour of the Corning Glass company in Corning, New York inspired Karg to learn the art of glass blowing. He enrolled in a glass blowing program at Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas. Upon establishing his own glass blowing studio he made a series of luminous glass ball paperweights, later adding many designs to his body of work. Rollin Karg retired from glassblowing in 2020.
