Patrick Nagel was born on November 25, 1945, in Dayton, Ohio. He died on February 4, 1984, in Santa Monica, California.
He studied at the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles, California, and at California State University in Fullerton, California. He was a prolific artist, creating hundreds of illustrations for magazines and album covers. His award winning 1982 Duran Duran
Rio album cover was exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
In 1977, Patrick Nagel created the first of dozens of contemporary illustrative style portraits of women. The images were published by Mirage Editions.
