Zu Ming Ho, Chinese (1949 - )

Zu Ming Ho’s modern western style of painting was deemed unacceptable by Chairman Mao’s Cultural Revolution Party. Because of this he was interned into a forced labor camp and many of his murals and paintings were destroyed by the government. After the Chinese Cultural Revolution he was allowed to leave the labor camp and resume his art career. He then studied painting at the Shanghai Drama Institute Department of Fine Arts in Shanghai, China. In 1987 he came to the United States on a student visa. He now lives in China where he is a professor of art and also continues to create art in the style which has made him famous around the world.
