Maurice de Vlaminck, French (1876 - 1958)

Maurice de Vlaminck was a self taught artist. He belonged to a group of Parisian artists who created a new style of painting using extremely bold and unrealistic colors. This style of painting became known as “Fauvism.” The Fauve art movement began in 1904 and continued for approximately four years.
